The Bitcoin LARP
Created by Blockstream hacker + Base58 founder @niftynei in 2021, the World Famous Bitcoin LARP (Live Action Role Play) is a fun, hands-on ~2-hour workshop for Bitcoiners of all ages and experience. At the LARP, individuals team up to manually perform the functions that Bitcoin nodes perform – “downloading” Bitcoin core, validating and constructing transactions, sending messages over the network and building their copies of the Bitcoin blockchain. No prior knowledge of Bitcoin or Bitcoin Core is needed to play.
- Prerequisites: basic arithmetic, a general awareness of computers and computer networking, and a desire to play and learn about Bitcoin!
- Come as a team, or an individual. This is also a family-friendly game; players as young as 10 years old have participated (with parental/guardian supervision).
Whether you’re a seasoned Bitcoiner or new to Bitcoin, there’s always something new that’s realised, learned or experienced!
