Fedimint and Cashu are two projects related to Bitcoin that aim to improve privacy and decentralization in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
Fedimint is an open-source protocol for custodying and transacting Bitcoin in a community context, focusing on privacy. It is a federated eCash system where guardians are responsible for setting up and running the system, custodying, and backing up funds.
The user experience of a Fedimint is designed to be similar to that of a custodial Lightning Wallet, with the advantage of strong privacy for users from the federation guardians and a native backup scheme for users to recover their funds
Cashu is a project that focuses on creating a decentralized cash system with privacy and trust-minimized distributed services. It is designed to work with a single mint operator, which has Lightning abilities.
The idea behind Cashu is to provide a more trust-minimized and decentralized alternative to traditional financial systems.
