UZH Blockchain Center Zürich Lecture Series Spring ’24 – Blockchain and Sustainability: Quo Vadis?
In her talk titled “Blockchain and Sustainability: Quo Vadis?”, Dr. Mulligan will explore the potential of blockchain technology to drive sustainable practices and address environmental challenges. The lecture will delve into current trends, future prospects, and the ethical implications of integrating blockchain into efforts to achieve sustainability.
About the speaker
Dr Cathy Mulligan, a Richard von Weizsäcker Fellow @ Robert Bosch Stiftung, a Visiting Lecturer at Imperial College Business School and founder of the Sustainable Society Digital Collective. She is an interdisciplinary researcher whose main area of focus is digital sustainable development. She combines real-world expertise in senior leadership positions with teaching and research. She has published seven books on digital technologies, multiple research papers and holds several patents. She has a lifetime research grant portfolio of £6.1 million, covering research projects in India, Malaysia, the EU, Australia, and the UK on digital sustainability.
Catherine completed her Master’s in engineering for Sustainable Development and her PhD at the University of Cambridge. She has been an expert at the World Economic Forum for over five years and was a member of the United Nations Secretary General’s High-Level Panel on Digital Cooperation in 2018/2019.
