Welcome to the Tampa Bay Bitcoin Mises Club Meetup for an enlightening session that promises to challenge conventional perspectives and inspire a new way of thinking about economics and education. Bring your curiosity, questions, and ideas as we embark on this journey together to grow the Mises Club Tampa Bay and our collective understanding.
The 2nd of our quarterly Mises collaborative events will be May 18th and we will discuss the role Austrian Economics and specifically subjective value played in the nontraditional educational path of the Shrader family and how it led them to form their nonprofit, Liberty Villages.
The goal of the Mises Club is to be action oriented so after the discussion on education we will move to a fast paced interaction among the members to get to know each other better and define the future direction of our club and what we can accomplish as a community.
The first step towards that goal is to bring as many friends, family and neighbors as possible with you to this great event!
Agenda:
Welcome and Introduction (5 minutes)
– Brief introduction to the Mises Club Tampa Bay.
– Overview of the event’s purpose and structure.
Main Discussion (30 minutes)
Wesley and Spencer will have a conversation on the following topics:
1. Austrian Economics or Free Market Economics or Principled Economics – Unpacking the essence of Austrian Economics, addressing why its principles are scarcely taught at earlier education levels, and emphasizing its role as a foundation for principled economics.
2. The Pillar of Subjective Value – Exploring the concept of subjective value and its pivotal role in understanding interactions in the world, leading to a deeper comprehension of economics and human behavior.
3. Subjective Value and Individualism in Education – Discussing how the principle of subjective value could revolutionize educational curriculums by promoting individualism and catering to unique learner needs.
4. Human Action and Subjective Value – Defining Human Action in the context of Ludwig von Mises’ work and explaining how subjective value drives individuals towards purposeful actions.
5. Navigating Purpose and Direction – Reflecting on the importance of understanding one’s goals in life and education, inspired by the saying, “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there.”
Interactive Q&A Session (20 minutes)
– Open floor for questions from the audience to the speakers or other attendees.
– Guidelines: Questions must be concise (15 seconds max), and responses should be brief and informative (1 minute max).
Community Building and Networking
