Scroll Detroit: zkEVM Build Mode is an in-person developer workshop designed to onboard Detroit and Midwest builders directly into the Scroll ecosystem through guided smart contract deployment on Scroll Sepolia, Scroll’s public zkEVM test network.
This is a build-first event. Participants will configure their development environment, write a basic Solidity smart contract, and deploy and verify it on Scroll Sepolia during a live build sprint.
Over the course of the workshop, participants will:
- Enable wallet onboarding and set up their developer environment for first-time Scroll deployments
- Provide developer infrastructure, documentation, and guided instruction to reduce friction for new developers
- Write an EVM-compatible Solidity smart contract
- Deploy and verify the contract on Scroll Sepolia

- Scroll 101: zk Infrastructure for the Next Generation of Builders – Scroll 101: The Path to L2 Deployment. Why Scroll’s zkEVM is the optimal environment for builders. Overview of the zkRollup architecture, gas cost benefits, and practical steps for connecting a wallet and obtaining Sepolia test funds.
- Build Sprint – Build + deploy a smart contract to Scroll Sepolia testnet. Complete optional mini-quest to earn the credential
