September 19, 2019 – Wyoming – Leading blockchain engineering company, IOHK, are set to launch the latest version of their modular smart contracts programming platform, Plutus, at the Wyoming Blockchain Stampede event at the University of Wyoming, on 20th September 2019.
The event, now in its second year, will see 400 attendees, from 7 countries taking part and a total prize pot for hackathon participants of almost a quarter of a million dollars.
IOHK CEO, Charles Hoskinson said:

The fact in addition to the 2019 Wyoming Hackathon, the event incorporates a business conference and a developers conference indicates the increasing adoption of blockchain technology across a range of industries and use cases. We’re particularly pleased to see that this year’s hackathon is focussed on the interoperability challenge, recognising that mass adoption of blockchain will require seamless interaction with current, past and future data systems.
“We’re also delighted to be able to launch the next iteration of the Plutus functional programming language and smart contract platform at the event. Plutus is a modular product, that allows smart contracts for the Cardano network to be easily created, even with no formal programming knowledge. We’re confident that Plutus will allow innovators with innovative ideas for blockchain use to bring their ideas to life in a way that wasn’t previously possible.”
Wyoming’s position as the most blockchain-friendly state in the US is the result of the state’s passing of an extensive series of laws and regulations, supporting the use of digital assets and reducing the regulatory burden on organisations working with and transacting using blockchain technologies. Precisely because of that supportive regulatory environment, in 2018, IOHK relocated its headquarters to Wyoming.
The state is also home to the Wyoming Blockchain Coalition, which has worked hard to make Wyoming the standard-bearer for the way in which a supportive environment for the use of blockchain technologies supports innovative businesses.
