DeFi Toronto returns in May 2024 with a packed agenda and an open forum for the community. The evening will begin with a comprehensive DeFi news recap—this month’s edition promises to be a big one, covering the latest developments and trends.
The featured talk will be led by Umar Ahmed of ChainPatrol, who will share insights on Web3 Security and Building in Web3, exploring best practices for safeguarding protocols, developers, and users in a rapidly evolving environment.
The program also includes an open roundtable on current crypto issues, giving attendees the chance to share perspectives, raise questions, and engage in collaborative discussion. The night will close with community announcements and networking opportunities.

Speaker Bio
Umar Ahmed is a Canadian Tech entrepreneur, software engineer, and designer. He is currently the CTO and co-founder of ChainPatrol, a real-time security network for Web3 communities. Umar has led the development of advanced AI threat detection systems, designed novel threat analysis and reporting tools, and built a world-class team of engineers at ChainPatrol. Umar received global recognition for his web development and software design in the NY Times, CBS Evening News, and the Globe and Mail. After graduating from the University of Toronto with a degree in Computer Science, Umar started his career as a Full Stack Software Engineer at Top Hat and later at Together Software (YC 2019). He has 10+ years of software development experience and has a keen eye for technical and visual design.
