DeFi Toronto continues its monthly series with the June 2024 meetup, bringing together builders, investors, and enthusiasts for timely updates and deep discussion. The evening opens with a DeFi news recap, followed by two featured presentations.
Jason Qiao of Jasper Vault will lead “DeFi Meets Wall Street”, exploring how decentralized finance is converging with traditional financial markets. James Morris of UMA’s Across Protocol will then present “Across + Intents: Why Cross-Chain Intents Are the Ultimate Interop System”, highlighting new approaches to seamless interoperability.
The program also includes a roundtable on 2–3 hot topics in the crypto space, plus community announcements and networking. It’s an ideal opportunity to learn, exchange ideas, and stay ahead of the curve in DeFi.

Speakers:
Jason Qiao is the founder and CEO of Jasper Vault, a peer-to-pear interoperable options protocol with the mission to bring options to the 99% of DeFi users by building intuitive and simple products that meet institutional-level safety requirements. Jason started his entrepreneurial journey by founding one of the first institutionalized digital fund back in 2018. The hedge fund has more than 6 years of audit records to date. Jason spent 12 years on Wall Street at JP Morgan Asset Management as an executive director, a member of the Investment Committee, and Head of the Portfolio Construction and Quantitative Research Team. Jason holds a Master’s Degree in Financial Mathematics from the University of Chicago.
James Morris, M.S., is a New York-based senior full-stack engineer at the Across Protocol with degrees in Computer Science, Economics, and Quantitative Finance.
