Bitcoin Sydney 4th Halving Celebratory Dinner!
Approximately every 4 years, a very significant event takes place during the operation of the Bitcoin network: The amount of new Bitcoin that is mined in each new block is reduced by 50%. These transitions, from one epoch to the next, are celebrated by Bitcoiners worldwide like those still mired in fiat money celebrate New Year’s Eve.
At some point, currently projected to occur some time on Saturday April 20 and perhaps during the evening itself, Bitcoin will reduce its inflation rate from 6.25 Bitcoins every 10 minutes to a mere 3.125 every 10 minutes.
Historically, these supply reductions have led to a large increase in price in the following months due to the supply shock, and this one is particularly significant in that it takes Bitcoin’s inflation rate to below that of Gold and virtually all other currencies.
Bitcoin Sydney will be holding a celebratory dinner at Pron Prohm Thai restaurant on April 20. This restaurant is owned and operated by a Bitcoiner who, naturally, accepts Bitcoin as payment. We have been given the use of the entire beer garden dining area where we will have a display set up showing a live countdown where we can ring in the new epoch together.
