The DeFi Toronto Meetup is back with another edition dedicated to exploring the latest ideas and innovations in decentralized finance. The evening will begin with a DeFi news recap, covering recent developments and key updates from across the ecosystem.
Featured talks include Mike Hathaway, Co-founder of Ajna Finance, presenting “DeFi Without Oracles or Governance”, a deep dive into alternative models for building resilient protocols. Michael Gord, CEO of Life DeFi, will then share insights on “Network Effects and Global Adoption of Digital Assets”, highlighting the drivers of mainstream adoption worldwide.
The night will wrap up with community announcements and networking, providing an excellent opportunity to learn, connect, and exchange ideas with fellow DeFi builders and enthusiasts.

Speakers
Mike Hathaway is a cofounder* of Ajna Finance. He is a software engineer who previously worked at MakerDAO until his team was spun off as part of the continuous decentralization process. Before crypto, he worked as a software engineer and as a management consultant. He graduated from The College of William and Mary in 2015 with degrees in Economics and Chinese. Mike’s talk will cover an overview of building a decentralized financial application that don’t rely on any external dependencies to function.

Michael Gord is co-founder & CEO of the GDA Group of Companies, and includes GDA Capital focused on digital asset investments and web 3.0 capital market advisory, Acronym Asset Management focused on market-neutral asset management strategies, NFT BAZL focused on investment grade NFTs, and Life DeFi focused on making DeFi accessible for retail investors.
