Join Ethereum Vancouver Meetup on January 18th to discuss Ethereum’s next upgrade dubbed Dencun.
Dencun is a protocol upgrade that introduces Proto-Danksharding, a new transaction type and aims to make Layer 2 transactions more cost-effective for users. It proposes to limit the amount of space each transaction takes on the blockchain and to secure each transaction by attaching a polynomial equation known as a “commitment.” This upgrade is expected to provide temporary scaling relief for rollups and make transactions on Layer 2 as cheap as possible for users.
Proto-Danksharding, also known as EIP-4844, is an intermediate step towards achieving Danksharding, which is a sharding design aimed at scaling the Ethereum blockchain.

✨ Ethereum Vancouver Meetup is a local meetup for the Ethereum community in Vancouver, hosted every Thursday night at DCTRL (436 West Pender). Both technical and non-technical individuals are welcome. It doesn’t matter if you are a complete beginner or a seasoned veteran. All we ask for is an interest in Ethereum, the dapps that are built on it, or other Ethereum-based technologies.
