Andreas M. Antonopoulos, Olaoluwa “roasbeef” Osuntokun, René Pickhardt Announce New Book ‘Mastering the Lightning Network

August 28, 2019 — Denver, CO — Best-selling author, prolific public speaker, and open blockchains expert Andreas M. Antonopoulos; co-founder and CTO of Lightning Labs and the lead developer of lnd Olaoluwa “roasbeef” Osuntokun; and data science consultant, educator, and independent Lightning Network Protocol contributor René Pickhardt announced that they will be authoring a new book today, Mastering the Lightning Network.

Says Andreas:

“Since I was first involved in bitcoin and open blockchains, my focus has been on providing useful, neutral, practical and accessible education. I’m very excited about the Lightning Network and want to share that excitement and knowledge with as many people as possible.”

Says Olaoluwa:

“Up and coming engineers cite Mastering Bitcoin as the breakthrough book that presented the internals of Bitcoin in a clear and cogent manner. I’m excited to work with my co-authors and the community to produce a comparable introduction to the Lightning Network.”

The authors made the announcement together onstage at the Blockchain Training Conference in Denver and called for the community to contribute. All three are teaching at the C4 educational event this week, and Pickhardt and Osuntokun’s teaching sessions are focused on the Lightning Network. The book will be published with O’Reilly Media.

Says René:

“When I started to work on the Lightning Network I realized right away even developers are often lacking a good understanding of how the Lightning Network works. I believe we need high quality educational materials to grow adoption of the Lightning Network and consequently bitcoin.”

The authors have created a Github repository for those interested in contributing to the upcoming book, and also a website where individuals can register to learn more about release plans for Mastering the Lightning Network.
